PassPop Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 13, 2026
App: PassPop
Developer: ctrlaltgo
This Privacy Policy explains how PassPop handles information when you use the PassPop iPhone app.
Summary
PassPop is built to work on your device. You do not need an account to use the app. PassPop does not run its own servers to collect or store your pass content. The pass details, logos, and barcodes you enter stay on your iPhone unless you choose to add a finished pass to Apple Wallet.
Information We Collect
Information you provide in the app
When you create a pass, you may enter or import:
- Organization and pass names
- Cardholder name and member or account numbers
- Custom labels and values
- Back-of-pass notes
- Barcode values
- Logo images from your photo library
- Photos used to detect barcodes
This information is stored locally on your device as pass drafts so you can edit saved passes later.
Information stored on your device automatically
PassPop may store small app settings on your device, including:
- Whether onboarding has been completed
- Whether PassPop Pro is active on your device
- How many free Wallet adds have been used on the free plan
Purchase information
If you buy PassPop Pro, the purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. Apple provides purchase and entitlement information needed to unlock Pro features. PassPop does not receive your payment card details.
Information we do not collect
PassPop does not require login and does not collect:
- Email addresses inside the app
- Names or contact details unless you type them into a pass yourself
- Location data
- Advertising identifiers
- Analytics or usage tracking through third-party SDKs
PassPop does not upload your pass drafts, logos, barcodes, or photos to ctrlaltgo servers.
How We Use Information
We use information only to operate PassPop, including:
- Letting you create, preview, save, and edit pass drafts
- Generating Apple Wallet pass files on your device
- Showing Apple’s Add to Wallet flow
- Unlocking PassPop Pro after a valid App Store purchase or restore
- Applying free-plan limits such as the included Wallet add count
We do not sell your information. We do not use your pass content for advertising.
Pass Creation and Signing
When you reach the Review step, PassPop builds and signs a Wallet pass file on your device using Apple’s PassKit requirements and the developer’s Pass Type ID certificate.
This signing happens on your iPhone. PassPop does not send your pass content to ctrlaltgo servers for signing.
After you add a pass to Apple Wallet, the pass is managed by Apple Wallet on your device.
Device Permissions
PassPop may request access to:
Camera
Used to scan barcodes during pass creation. PassPop uses the camera only when you choose Scan.
Photos
Used when you choose a logo image or import a barcode from a photo. PassPop accesses only the items you select.
You can deny either permission and still use manual barcode entry or other parts of the app where those features are not required.
Third-Party Services
PassPop relies on Apple platform services to function, including:
- Apple Wallet / PassKit to create and add passes
- App Store / StoreKit to sell and restore PassPop Pro
- Apple ID for purchase and restore handling managed by Apple
Those services are governed by Apple’s own terms and privacy policies.
PassPop may open these external pages from within the app:
- Apple Standard EULA
- PassPop Privacy Policy: https://www.ctrlaltgo.com/passpopprivacy
- PassPop Support: https://ctrlaltgo.ca/passpop-support/
Data Retention and Deletion
Pass drafts are stored locally on your device using on-device app storage.
- Deleting a saved pass in PassPop removes that draft from the app
- Deleting PassPop from your iPhone removes locally stored drafts from the app
- Passes already added to Apple Wallet remain in Apple Wallet until you remove them there
PassPop does not maintain a cloud backup of your drafts.
Children’s Privacy
PassPop is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app in a way that raises a concern, contact us and we will help address it.
Security
We design PassPop so your pass content stays on your device. No security method is perfect, but keeping data local reduces exposure compared with server-based storage.
You are responsible for the information you choose to place on your passes and for keeping your iPhone secure.
International Users
PassPop is available through the App Store in supported regions. Your information is stored on your device and processed through Apple platform services according to Apple’s policies and your device settings.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of PassPop after an update means you accept the revised policy.
