Windohs XD is a nostalgic parody desktop full of games, toys and utilities, made by Ctrl Alt Go Ltd. This policy explains what information the app uses and why.
The short version
Almost everything you do in Windohs XD stays on your device. We don’t have accounts, we don’t show ads, and we don’t sell your data. The only information that leaves your device is anonymous purchase information, used to understand how the app is doing and whether our App Store ads work.
What stays on your device
Documents, drawings, high scores, settings, your Skippy Pet, e-mails in Mailstrom and anything else you create in Windohs XD are saved locally on your device. So is any music you copy into the app. We never see any of it.
Purchase information
Windohs XD is a paid app. Payments are handled by Apple, and we never see your payment details.
The app uses RevenueCat, a service that helps us understand app sales. RevenueCat receives information about your App Store purchases of Windohs XD, together with an anonymous, randomly generated ID. It is not linked to your name, e-mail address or Apple Account, and it is not used to track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
We use this information to:
- understand how many people buy and use the app
- measure whether our Apple Search Ads campaigns work
RevenueCat’s privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
Apple Search Ads attribution
If you found Windohs XD through an ad on the App Store, the app may send an attribution token from Apple’s AdServices framework to RevenueCat. It tells us which ad campaign led to the download. It doesn’t identify you personally, and the app doesn’t use your device’s advertising identifier. You can turn off personalized ads from Apple in Settings > Privacy & Security > Apple Advertising.
What we don’t do
- No accounts or sign-in
- No ads inside the app
- No tracking across other apps or websites
- No selling or sharing your data for advertising
- No uploading of your documents, drawings, music or other content
The pretend internet and e-mail
Internet Exploder is a pretend web browser. Every website in it is built into the app, and it doesn’t load real web pages. Mailstrom is a pretend e-mail program. It doesn’t send or receive real e-mail, and anything you “send” stays on your device.
Permissions
Windohs XD only asks for access when you use a feature that needs it:
- Photos (add only): used when you save a Doodlebox drawing to your photo library. The app can’t see your existing photos.
- Media and Apple Music: used when you play songs from your music library or Apple Music in WinLamp. Your library is read on your device. Apple Music searches and playback are handled by Apple.
- Files: you choose which files to import. Windohs XD only uses the files you pick.
You can change these permissions at any time in the Settings app.
Device information
Panic Manager and Control-ish Panel show some real information about your device, such as free storage, battery level and memory. It’s read on your device, shown to you, and never sent anywhere.
Children
Windohs XD isn’t aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices
Because the purchase information we receive is anonymous, we can’t connect it to you. If you have a question or a request about your data, contact us at the address below and we’ll help as best we can.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date at the top.
