This Privacy Policy explains how WristScribe handles information when you use the app on iPhone and Apple Watch.

WristScribe is designed to keep your recordings and notes on your devices. CtrlAltGo does not operate a WristScribe account system or a WristScribe cloud backend that receives your audio, transcripts, or notes.

Information We Process

Information stored on your device

WristScribe processes and stores the following on your iPhone and, when you use the Watch app, on your Apple Watch:

  • Audio recordings captured with the microphone (or audio files you import)
  • Transcripts created from those recordings
  • Organized notes and related note content (such as titles, templates, folders/tags, and edit history)
  • App preferences, including audio retention settings and appearance choices
  • Purchase entitlement state needed to unlock premium features (sourced from Apple)

This information lives in local app storage (including SwiftData and audio files on device).

Microphone

WristScribe requests microphone access so it can record voice notes on iPhone and Apple Watch. Microphone audio is used only to create recordings for transcription and note-taking within the app.

Device-to-device sync (Watch Connectivity)

If you use WristScribe on Apple Watch with a paired iPhone, the app uses Apple’s Watch Connectivity framework to transfer recordings and related note data between your Watch and iPhone. That transfer is between your paired devices. It is not a transfer to CtrlAltGo servers.

Purchases

If you buy a weekly subscription or a lifetime unlock, payment is processed by Apple through the App Store / StoreKit. Apple may process purchase-related information under Apple’s own privacy policy. CtrlAltGo does not receive your full payment card details.

Information we do not collect

CtrlAltGo does not, through WristScribe:

  • Require you to create an account
  • Operate a WristScribe backend that stores your audio, transcripts, or notes
  • Sell your personal information
  • Use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs in the app
  • Track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising

How We Use Information

WristScribe uses the information described above only to provide the app’s features, including:

  • Recording audio
  • Transcribing recordings
  • Organizing transcripts into notes with Apple Intelligence
  • Syncing content between your paired iPhone and Apple Watch
  • Playing back, editing, exporting, or deleting notes and recordings at your request
  • Applying your audio retention preference
  • Unlocking and restoring premium purchases

Apple Services and Third Parties

WristScribe relies on Apple platforms and frameworks. Depending on your device, software version, and settings, that may include:

Apple Speech (transcription)

WristScribe uses Apple’s Speech technologies (including on-device transcription APIs) to convert audio into text on your iPhone. Speech model assets may be provided by Apple as part of the operating system.

Apple Intelligence (organized notes)

When available on your device, WristScribe uses Apple Intelligence / Apple Foundation Models to turn transcripts into organized notes.

  • Processing may run on your device.
  • On supported systems where Apple’s Private Cloud Compute is available and used, processing may be routed through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute. That is Apple infrastructure operated under Apple’s privacy commitments—not a CtrlAltGo server, and not a WristScribe cloud account.

Apple Intelligence features depend on your device capability and system settings (for example, Apple Intelligence being enabled).

App Store / StoreKit

Purchases, subscriptions, free trials (if offered), restore purchases, and related billing are handled by Apple.

System features you choose to use

If you use system share sheets, export, import, or similar OS features, content leaves the app only because you chose that action, and is then handled by the destination app or service you select.

CtrlAltGo does not sell your personal information to third parties.

Data Storage and Retention

Where data is stored

Audio, transcripts, notes, and preferences are stored locally on your devices.

Audio retention settings

You can choose how long WristScribe keeps audio recordings, including options such as:

  • Keep forever
  • Keep for 30 days
  • Keep until transcribed

Transcripts and organized notes may remain after audio is deleted, depending on the action you take. You can also delete individual recordings or notes in the app.

Deleting data

You can delete notes and recordings in the app. Uninstalling WristScribe removes the app’s local data from that device, subject to normal operating-system behavior.

Purchase records remain with Apple according to Apple’s policies. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple ID / App Store subscription settings.

Children’s Privacy

WristScribe is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information in a way that concerns you, contact us using the details below.

Your Choices

You can:

  • Deny or revoke microphone permission in iOS / watchOS Settings
  • Choose an audio retention setting in WristScribe
  • Delete notes or recordings in the app
  • Turn Apple Intelligence features on or off in system Settings (where available)
  • Manage or cancel subscriptions through your Apple ID
  • Uninstall the app

International Users

WristScribe processes information on your devices. If Apple services (such as App Store purchases or Private Cloud Compute, when used) process data, that processing is governed by Apple’s terms and privacy practices.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the updated policy at https://ctrlaltgo.ca/wristscribe-privacy-policy/ and revise the effective date above. Continued use of WristScribe after an update means you accept the revised policy.
